It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We've been decorating like crazy, looking for any opportunity to to express our creativity!  Christmas is the time of year that everyone should feel loved and have a home full of joy, right?  LOL!  Of coarse love and  joy shouldn't be confined to a holiday or date but I must admit, my homemaking instincts kick in when the cold weather starts creeping in and the bows start being hung.  I want my husband to walk in and say the warmth and comfort of our home comes from more than just the heat.  I want my kids to remember the smells and my smile.  I want the sound of joyful music to flow through our home and sweet memories associated with the cold days out side.  I want home to be a HAVEN!  I love my husband and kids and my greatest joy is serving them.  What a blessing!  I can't imagine why God choose to give me this job but I'm forever grateful!

The little beaded snow flakes were made and sold by a 11 yr old who was helping a friend earn money to go on a missionary trip.  I bought a sandwich sized bag of them for $2.00.

Little nick knacks scattered about the house.  Some are just cute.  Others are have special meanings to us.  This year I noticed that what was special to one, wasn't necessarily special to everyone.  Like the snow globe.  The water has turned yellow but it's still a treasure to Sabrina.  It was a gift from her father when me and him were split up and living in separate houses.  I don't even think she knows why it's special.  I do.  I remember her carrying it around saying "This is from my daddy".  She missed him so much!  It's a bitter sweet memory for me.  The love she had for him, sweet.  The pain of the separation on her, bitter.
The tall skinny Santa and Christmas tree are were so ugly to me.  I've come to love them.  They came from a a woman that my husband loved like a mother and I loved her first, for her love to my husband!  Sophie was so special to us!
The tree is a candy theme this year although we couldn't eliminate all of our special ornaments.  We did limit them to ornaments with candy colors!
Can you see the candy streamer?  We aren't done.  We still have half the tree to stream.

I wish I had taken a picture of just the table uncovered.  I ran to the thrift store dreaming of finding a wooden table for my porch.  I found just that.  It's solid wood and sturdy as can be.  It's probably looking a little cluttered.  I was in a decorating mood but I'm  not sure my creativity was flowing.  It was found though!

I made this bow!  I can't believe I did!  It was fun but now I don't know what to do with it!

 Lights and golden bows :)
I generally like white icicle lights best but kids love color so I went with color!
Glitter and gold :)

Homemade hot chocolate, Rudolph and candy streaming made for a great night!

 Rudolph is always a hit!
